Ottawa was ready for a night of heavy metal mixed with fire and devil horns as Volbeat and Godsmack took the stage at Canadian Tire Centre on their 2019 World Tour.

Up first was Danish rock heavyweights Volbeat, with the crowd awaiting the arrival anxiously.  When the lights went out, and the band started behind a large curtain that read ‘Volbeat‘ until a few cords in, and then dropped away as the crowd went wild.

As a band that sticks to the music, and does not have a large stage presence, the sound and stage set are clean, crisp and LOUD.

Playing to a 15 song setlist, including a cover of ‘Ring of Fire’ by Johnny Cash, this city was certainly not left out on hearing all of their hits and latest tracks.

After Volbeat wrapped up their set, it was time for Massachusetts rockers Godsmack to grace the stage with their presence. The anticipation in the crowd was on full display up front, devil horns and hair flying everywhere, they were ready to rock.

Poulsen’s unique vocals never go unheard, with his influential backing of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash in them.

Godsmack hit the stage, with their newly released high energy song ‘When Legends Rise’, followed up by ‘100hp’ which was accompanied by insane amounts of pyrotechnics on stage, enough to feel like a hot summers day in Ottawa as it hits your face. The cover of AC-DC ‘Highway to Hell’ was sure to be a hit with this crowd, as they ramped it up into a sing-a-long.
